I was told that it would be best for me that i not tell others while at vital training that i am a college student. Why do you reckon this is?

They might get jealous, but there’s nothing incorrect if you tell them. they won’t shoot you..

you will not be a student, you will be a recruit. anyway, your DIs will know in this area your education. may give you a small grief for it.

  2. Cuppycake says:

I’ve never heard that before… I reckon it’s cool that you’re going to college. Depending on your major, it can make you more valuable to them.

  3. Mrsjvb says:

because nobody gives a flying leap. you are nothing and will be treated just like any other recruit. your college education doesn’t mean jack squat in vital training.

  4. Ray says:

Why would anyone care? I couldn’t imagine possibly caring less.

  5. Blong says:

Do what you want. It’s up to you whether you tell them, just know the consequences either way whether you do!! if you want them to know, then let them know, if not, then don’t. Like I said, just reckon in this area what they might reckon the worst is that they don’t like it and they’re jealous . . it depends how much that is going to hurt you!

  6. Barry auh2o says:

That is up to you, but when you are in vital, no one really cares who or what you are. You are all in the same situation, and you will have to ( and want to ) work collectively as a team in order to make it through.

  7. YoungCon says:

I don’t reckon you should. I have heard tales of DIs asking, “Who hear has a college education?”.
Then someone raises their hand and then the DI says, “Excellent then you should know how to clean toilets with a toothbrush for the next few hours.”

So yeah, there’s no reason to tell anyone at boot camp, mainly not your DI. You are just a further recruit, just like anyone else. Don’t give the DIs any reason to focus their attention on you.
