USC, UCLA, both have med schools.
It would be better to major in Biology or a further science.

You can really major in anything you want. You will need but to satisfy a lot of science coursework and few people are competitive at both sciences and humanities to pull off having a nonscience major. Follow your heart. A liberal arts undergrad will really prepare you and may even lead you to something you would like more than medicine.
I would not reccommned combined programs. The look sexy but MOST of the people I know who did them were ‘failed’ out. I’m talking in this area brilliant kids who cruised through their undergrad work and started to get bogged down in their health check classes. Remember, med teach is the best of the best. You will be surrounded by valadictorians and cut-throats, and if they’ve had a full four year education get ready for them to rock you. Many of the combined programs won’t even give you your bacchelors in anticipation of you end everything. So the several people I know who got booted out during their med teach work had to go back and end college before re-applying. Also, unlike the regularly enrolled health check students who would receive help if they had distress the teach felt no obligation to the combined kids and just booted them if they started to struggle.
And what’s the price. My wife actual survived responsibility college and med teach in 6 years then straight in to surgery and refined her residency. THEN HAD A MELT DOWN. I mean a total melt down. I’m talking going to a mental hospital melt down.
I wouldn’t have traded my four years in college for anything.
University of California–San Francisco, University of California–San Diego, or Stanford University are the top 3 universities in california and i place them in order from best to least, but these three schools are in the top 15 best schools in the united states. the university of san fransisco is 4th, stanford is 7th, and san diego is 14th in the united states.
the classes that you should take are AP biology, AP chemistry, and anatomy and physiology which is human biology. and anything that deals with health check training or is health check correlated would also look fantastic on your transcripts. if you have any more questions you can e-mail me. excellent luck getting in.
There’s nothing incorrect with majoring in psychology, but, rule of thumb….make sure that you are taking the REQUIRED pre-reqs for health check teach. Meaning taking the psych courses for your primary major, but taking the major sciences by the side of with it. So you most likely will be required to take Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, General Chemistry, General Biology, Physics, College Math/Algebra, Calculus, Immunology, etc.Research on the health check schools in CA and see what their required pre-reqs are, talk to your guidance counselor in the meantime. Keep your grades up, because health check teach is very competitive. It really doesn’t matter in this area combined university and health check schools, you just apply to as many health check schools that you can, with you complete the medschool course requirements. Do excellent on the MCAT, that’s the test required to take to get in med teach. Start your research now. Best wishes.
