Q&A: How do you go about finding what college is right for you?
Question by Someone: How do you go in this area finding what college is right for you?
I’m a junior in high teach now and I’ve started looking at colleges. I’ve tried the collegeboard search thing but it hasn’t really been helping. Maybe some people may possibly make suggestions
-I want to run in college. I’m not sure what ncaa division I’d be able to compete in yet though because I’ll be getting better with my next 2 years.
-I want to major in biology or something akin to that so they must have a excellent science program.
-It must be somewhere northeast(ish). I live in RI but want to get away from New England for a small bit or at least a small bit away.
-Right now I have an unweighted 3.677 cumulative gpa. That’s unweighted. I’ve taken all honors classes through my hs career and this year I’m taking all honors again and one AP course.
I’m not sure if this helps anyone but may possibly you give me some suggestions, or some websites that helped you?

I’d suggest first figuring out what you want to do in life, job wise, with college - and to find something less generalized than “biology” in which the job openings are slim to none.
Then start researching colleges, on your own, that offer degrees in your choice of Majors.
But being as you still have 1/2 of your HS classes/years to end, it’s too early to suggest anything at this top.

Start visiting some campuses so that you will start to know whether you prefer a large, mid-sized or small teach.
Try Petersons.com. You can search for colleges based on whatever criteria is vital to you (major, location, size of teach, huge city/suburban/rural, etc.). That will help narrow it down. Once you get a list of schools that meet your criteria, visit their websites and request information. Go visit as many as you can.
