Question by Leo: Studying for Network Admin Certification at a community college or from an IT Technical Teach?
Hey guys, I’m trying to get a certification for Network Admin at a community college here in Northern VA and hoping I can find a job as an entry level Network Admin. Do you know if it’s simple to land a job once you have the certification? Also, does it matter whether you get the certification from a community college, university or from an IT technical teach? Answers are appreciated. Thankfulness.

I would do the Community college just because while neither is that fantastic, it’s harder to transfer the credits from an IT Tech teach to a real college if you choose later you want a degree.

Certainly the community college. It’s far cheaper, the courses are the same, and your credits will transfer straightforwardly if/when you choose to go on to a more advanced degree. Stay away from ITT Tech and any other teach like it, that tries to make you pay for an entire program up front and offers exaggerated claims of how well their graduates do.
First, it’s very hard to get an entry level Network Admin job. You have to start at the underneath, meaning help desk/pc technician. So make sure you can fix computers.
Second, avoid Technician schools. They are scum! They overcharge, overpromise, and cheat you. Go with community college or university.
Do the community college send. Technical schools are too expensive and their education is not as excellent. It will be too hard to get an entry level job. Employers usually want a few years of experience and they usually want a bachelor’s degree. And this is not just IT the same thing is also happening to health care. Just don’t expect a job right with teach. This is not the 90′s anymore. People don’t hire new grads anymore. They want experience and it’s really sad for all new grads in any profession.
