Question by Kendra Hendrix: What happens if you fail a university course?
My exam is next week and I WILL fail the test if I write it, I’m behind in the course anyway and there is no way I can pass. Do I talk to my prof in this area this or can I just not show up for the exam?

You have a week to study and you’ve just chose to give up?

Those who don’t try, fail.

Just show up for the exam and do your best. It’s better to get some points out of an zero. You might even pass with an C. Just talk to your professor. Wish you the best, and excellent luck on the exam

Take the exam, talk to the professor afterward, explaining your situation. If you were so far behind, why didn’t you talk to him in the first house? You will have a opportunity to repeat the course, but I would advise not taking the same professor though.

In the UK, if you fail a course you can usually resit the exam before the beginning of the next academic year. But, your mark is capped at 40%- so regardless of how well you do, you can get a maximum of 40%.

If you have some sort of private reason/problem for not responsibility so well at the minute (family problems for example)- something that is affecting your performance- it is sometimes possible to submit mitigating evidence, meaning you may get extra credit for example.

I’d advise you to speak to your tutor.. what’s the worst that can happen?
