Should I go get my A+ Certification or go to college?
Question by Daniel: Should I go get my A+ Certification or go to college?
I have been reading many mixed reviews in this area only having the A+ Certification. But, it seems like those without are lost because the A+ cert is the “industry standard”. So what is it?
I honestly have small clue what to do with my life, but the more I study notebook systems, the more I like in this area it. I was signed up into my local CC for a 4 year degree but will it be worth it? The reason I question is because, let’s say I get my A+ cert. I get a job at a local shop or at Best Buy, while getting a further certification. I would be lucky making 30K a year with my A+ since I wouldn’t be investing thousands in a 4 year degree.
So with, say a year, I have “hands on” experience working on repair with A+ and a further cert. Then hopefully I get to work on software while getting a further cert. And so on and so on. Is this a smart road to go? Not too many jobs but computers will be always be here, right? $ 1,483.32 for the A+ prep course, making 30K at the entry level sounds very intriguing.
I want to work with computers. Please anyone with private experience like to shime in?
Okay then but an associate + cert better? If so, what’s best?

Go to teach and get your A+ cert. Your not being realistic if you reckon that if you get your cert you are going to be making 30k off the bat. With your cert it might place you a few bucks above minimum wage. So reckon 20k…maybe…and seeing that you will most likely be hourly and not salary, 20k is only is you manage to pull full time hours year round. Get your cert while your in teach and get a job someplace to get some hands on work and when you get your degree, you’ll have the education and the work experience to launch your career.
