Question by Nera: AP physics exams equals university courses?
Let’s say that I took AP Physics C E/M exams at high teach senior year (but didn’t take the classes, just the exams) and got 5′s on both, would I be able to omit the Physics C course in university (say, UCLA) and get straight to advance physics class?

Well, I wouldn’t want to waste money on the exams if it couldn’t help me omit the univ. classes that I am already familiar with.

Responsibility well on these exams can also help you get into college. Depending on the college it may or may not help you get out of the introductory physics course. In general it will allow you to either house out of the introductory course or take an advanced / combined / honors section.

  1. Mike says:

There are two Physics C exams. One is Mechanics and the other is Electricity and Magnetism. Each will usually get you a semester of physics credit. If you did well on both you may possibly start in the third semester of physics. Whether you get credit it or not depends on your score, the college and your major. Here is the info for UCLA, http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCredit.htm. Most colleges have a page like this and they can be found at http://collegesearch.collegeboard.com/apcreditpolicy/index.jsp.

    I hope this helps,
