How does one decide on a new profession and/or career? I am lacking a ‘calling’ to anything specific.

Question by Virginia E: How does one choose on a new profession and/or career? I am lacking a ‘calling’ to anything specific.
I currently have over a decade of experience in notebook technical support-I’m at the end of my earnings ability without college or certification. I realized as I approached certifications that I didn’t WANT to be in this field-this wasn’t making me want to get out of bed in the morning-it was making me want to hide in it!

I have taken tests in this area aptitude and more importantly motivation and the consequences basically are that I should be in a compassionate field, helping others in some fashion. Suggestions were things like teaching, counseling, working with animals. I completely agree that work needs to be meaningful,

Nothing calls to me. I am resourceful and can find a way to go back to college for the right profession-but I still don’t know what I want to pursue.

What method or strategy or process can I use to pull out my inner sense of direction? I should be able to use some method of abolition to figure this out, or some process of qualification-just something!

What are you leisure activities?
What do you do for entertainment?

Look in those areas…

I feel you mate! I’m trying to find direction too, and you’re right. You’ve gotta like what your responsibility or its a waste of time. Ummm, what I sometimes do if I can’t choose something is I imagine responsibility the choices in my head and see how I feel in this area being that, if you know what I mean? It’s helpful. Also, write a list of pros and cons and see what comes up. You may possibly always start as a instructor, then become a counsellor with experience as a instructor (that would make you a better more knowledgable counsellor), and suppliment your like of animals with having lovely pets around you, and even helping out volunteering at shelters etc. There ya go! Huh, its freaky how much you sound like my situation!

Quite simply, the planet economic system in which we live is an inhumane one. Everyone engages in anti-production, and instead of holding farmers in high regard, we slaughtered tens of millions of them in the past hundred years.

Meanwhile people paint houses or mow lawns or sell shit to people to place food on themselves and on their children’s heads.

Civil, isn’t it? I suggest you educate yourself as to the reality of the planet we really live in with the free audio clips here http://cuttingthroughthematrix.com/ .

The answer is there. You have that answer. My guess is to use the work experience that you’ve had as a clear. Notebook technology is huge in the educational field. You mentioned teaching. How in this area putting those two collectively and coming up with something like a technology instructor in a middle teach or high teach. You’d probably have an simpler time through college with the tech courses because of your experience. The fact that you are resourceful and can return to college is a huge plus. Main thing is “like of your work”, if it not there, its not where you want to spend your time. Excellent luck.

I went to a guidance councelor at my local college and she gave me some aptitude tests that were very accurate. Now, saying that, I have taken the same aptitude tests and gotten uncommon consequences, depending on who gave them. This last one, well, the lady was really excellent at her job. but she used a book called “Do What You are” by Paul Tieger and Barbara Barron and it was really accurate. It has a whole list of careers that people with my personality type do. The amusing thing was that I always thought I had no direction, but with looking at that list, I realized that all the things I had done in the past and the things I am interested in were on the list for my personality type. So, I would say that you know your general interests and you should get a job in those fields. Then as you progress in the job, other opportunities will open up to you.

    excellent luck!

Write down what you like/like. For example if you like animals maybe you may possibly be a vet tech. Or if you like houses you may possibly be a real estate agent or a home inspector or house sitter. Are you into fitness and nutrition? There is this correnspose teach that will train you called us career intitute/ McKinly College. Maybe go in business for yourself. Ther are two magazines I like one is call small business opportunies and the other is business oppportunies handbook. They both are available at your local bookstore.

I too questioned for myself this very question years ago, with being in your contemporary profession. I luckily came across a friend who was in the telecommunications business. I hooked up with him and started a career in site acquisition. It involves basically seeking out property’s with rooftops or water tanks etc.

It also involves technical stuff that really say to your success in this field. With your background you would be surprised how rewarding it really is.

It pays a hell of a lot more as well. And no burn out like the tech biz.

Email me and I will give you some information on where to start.

It sounds like you would be at least reasonably lucky in that compassionate field. If you don’t know what you should go for then work the other way round: of the jobs in that field, cross out the ones you certainly DON’T want to go for- then choose one from those that remain. You can always change later- it’s not like your pronouncement is set in marble. And change will do you a planet of excellent.
