I can’t say for certain in this area the Air Force, but in the Army it’s very hard to take any serious courses while active. Mainly while deployed. There’s simply no time. If you are active, but at a home station, it’ll be simpler, high and mighty you’re in the mood for evening teach and the like. But it’s not a fun workload to balance. But my understanding is that if you go reserves, it’s VERY hard to switch back over to active these days, particularly for airmen. You’ve been warned.

You will have plenty of time with work and during work. most supervisors will let you adjust your shift around your college and even go during your shift. and if you install, you can take classes there too. nothings beats free college and free cleps. go clep crazy
The Reserves would probably give you more time to attend college, but then you aren’t getting a full time paycheck. I believe Reserve tuition help is uncommon.
Going to college on active duty will be possible once you end BMT, Tech Teach, and you’re 5-level CDCs. You won’t be carrying a full load, so it will take you longer to get a degree.
You have to choose which one is more vital.
Hubby has been working on his degree for the past 8 years, and is just in this area done. Most folks can take 1-2 classes per term, depending upon schedules, duty hours, and outside commitments. Of course there are times such as studying for promotion tests, PCSing, deployments, where you won’t be able to take classes.
But… most folks, if they want it, can get their bachelors in in this area 10 years.
my son has been responsibility that very thing…….he works a set schedule and has managed to take at least 3 credits per semester since he has been in………….it does take a bit of time and of course it is pretty much all on line so YOU must be dedicated to wanting it…….his aim is to get as much of the bs classes done as quick as he can and get a excellent quick grade to then choose on what he wants to focus on [education] wise…………he has had PLENTY of time for going out and having fun as well……..but you can rack up those credits when deployed as well………plus like mentioned above clep as MUCH as you can………..[you will know all in this area that once you get in]
