Anyone ever went to college to be a Surgical Tech? Is this a good profession?

Question by Knife Party: Anyone ever went to college to be a Surgical Tech? Is this a excellent profession?
I am thinking of taking a one year course for a certificate. What’s the money like? Is it worth it? Any info would be much appreciated.

I do not know the pay extent for your area but you can get a general thought at www.monster.com or a further job databank. Mymother took this course around 10 years ago. She said she loved the surgical aspect but that you have to be in the same position forever…as in holding a patient leg for a long time. Also, we are very small and she said they always seemed to make her do all the heavy lifting of the patient. She didn’t complete the course due to her own health check problems though.
