Question by zizi: radiologist tech: how hard are the college courses? Is there a lot of math?
I can’t seem to figure out what to major in! I know I want to do something in the health check field because I like science but I despise math.

Btw I’m going to college first for a Associates degree then to a senior college.

I’ve also thought of nursing.

Can anyone share their wisdom?

The right title is radiologic technologist. I went through a hospital program, not a college. There is not a lot of math. These are the types of classes you would take:

Anatomy and Physiology: general anatomy and anatomical relationships, organ and system functions and relationships, and cross sectional anatomy in order to go accurate radiographic examinations.

Health check Ethics: ethical and legal considerations which impact upon the practice.

Health check Terminology: an understanding of abbreviations, symbols, terms, and phrases necessary to communicate with other professionals caught up in patient care.

Patient Care: attention to and concern for, the physical and psychological needs of the patient undergoing the radiographic examination.

Radiologic Positioning: proper beam-part-film alignment with respect to source of radiation and area to be examined.

Radiographic Exposure: appropriate selection of all technical factors to produce a diagnostic feature radiograph.

Radiographic Pathology: knowledge of disease, anomalies and abnormalities which shape performance of radiographic procedures.

Radiographic Physics: atomic structure, beam feature, radiation interactions, the function and operation of various generator components.

Radiation Safeguard: the use of beam restrictive devices, patient defending techniques, proper screenfilm combinations, accurate assessment and implementation of appropriate exposure factors as well as a working understanding of governmental regulations.

Radiation Biology: understanding of beam formation and radiation interaction with matter as it relates to genetic and somatic effects.
