You need to become either a CNA (certified nursing assistant) or nurse in your community…following austere laws set down by your community.

If you become a CNA, you will spend a lot of time changing diapers. If you become a nurse, you will spend a lot of time trying to find where the CNA s are hiding. As far as I can tell, CNA s turn invisible whenever there is work to be done.

You can’t help patients with Alzheimers. You can only make them comfortable and try to keep them fed and hydrated.

You can do an 8 week course to become a certified nursing assistant and do in-home care or work in a nursing home. The pay is not very excellent for CNAs, though. You will mostly be changing bed linens and helping people go to the bathroom. If you really want to do this, meaning if you really reckon you can handle becoming attached to patients in a long-term or hospice care setting and then lose them, I reckon you should go ahead with the CNA training. With that, you should get a job in elder care and go back to teach for your LPN. Some nursing homes will really pay your tuition if you agree to work for them for a preset period of time. Once you’re licensed, you have a lot more options (and you can really survive on your salary). You’ll be able to work in a supervisory position.

You seem like a excellent person. Excellent luck to you.
