I have this fantastic plot to live on my own, commute via public transit to a fantastic community college to get certification in phlebotomy, get a job at the local mall, and explore this clean small city in Northern Virginia. It’s the greatest thing I’ve ever come up with, and this is only phase 1. I’m 20 years ancient and ready to get moving.

The only problem is I am currently living with a friend, have no money and zero credit to my name. I’m pretty sure my father is willing to pay the cost of my apartment for the time being, but I was wondering-
Can my Dad take a rent out on me ?

Please help me out. All educated answers will be rewarded with a fantastic huge smile on my part. I really just need to find out if I can do this my way. I’ll be the most pleased man alive if this works out!

unless you dad owns the property you be going to to go into, he’s not going to be able to take out a rent on you. that is the landlord’s domain. you may possibly come up with a contract, though. state what your father is responsibility for you and what terms of repayment if applicable are expected of you. sign in front of a witness and have it notarized. that makes it legal. the certificate you’re pursuing doesn’t take long to get, 6-9 months so you should be able to pay your father back honestly quickly then strike out on your own.
