Question by USA Pride: For Army ROTC do you take normal college courses on top of the military science class and training?
I know you have to take the military science course and do training and i pretty much know how it works, but what i am confused in this area is that most colleges websites say that you go to class one or two times a week. does that mean the military science class? and would i still be taking fixed civilian courses at the college?

  1. WhoIsJohnGaltCom says:

It’s a scholarship program for real-planet science degrees, paid for with military service as an officer with graduation. So, yes, you take normal classes — not “on top of” military science, but as the primary pursuit. The military stuff is added in support of your obligation.

ROTC is typically a insignificant. Only one 2-3 credit hour class per semester.

    Yes

reckon of it as ROTC being one extra( usually discretionary) class you take as part of your fixed schedule. you must be working headed for a degree in order to be contracted.

you can take the first 2 years without having to declare a major or be contracted.

yes you will add a insignificant in Military Science to whatever major you are taking.

I see no reason to do ROTC. I don’t want to look like a doof on campus. Do OCS. It’s 100% better.

yes you have to be enrolled in fixed courses. to graduate from ROTC you must have a bachelors degree. For Example, I have ROTC classes mon, wed with a ROTC lab on Thurs. Those classes are taken right by the side of with and next to my civilian classes

Yes, the websites are talking in this area the military science class. You have a one hour class that is twice a week and then a 2 hour lab that is once a week. This is pretty much like a further class to add to your list. The lab is usually 1 credit hour and the class is 2. It is just like your biology class and lab, except it is military training.
