switch over to my career, never to see it again?
Certification being 6 months of classes twice a week, or whatever.

If you're attractive and can handle working late nights, definitely get bartending certification. You can make a lot of money in tips.

Otherwise, look for a job on campus. There are lots of unionized jobs on campuses. I work part-time at the university library (I'm a full-time student) and I get paid $ 13.50/hour for an entry-level customer service job.
