Question by Riley: Any successful writers who had no professional training or degree?
I’m wondering are there any well-known, successful writers or fantastic books written by people who have no professional training/no college degree in English/Literature (or whatever the degree may be). I have so many interests and uncommon things I want to pursue and I’m wondering if I happened to write a book if it is possible for people who don’t have pro training to be able to have a successful, published book.

There are tons of them! Writing is one of those subjects that is best self-educated. These days everything is so controlled by marketability but if you have vision it shows through and it’s timeless.

The Outsiders is an incredible book written by a 16 year ancient girl still completing high teach! So yes it is possible. The Outsiders went on to be a classic in teenage literature, and it really is an incredible book. If you are interested in reading it the author is S.E. Hinton.
