Question by Sapphire R: What college courses would be best to take if I want to be a fashion magazine editor or writer?
It’s my senior year in high teach and I’m ready to commence looking into colleges but I’m not sure where to start. I’ve done alot of research in this area what courses I need and what’s come up the most is fashion merchandising, fashion marketing, journalism, and grapic design. Which one of these degrees would help me the most in landing a job with a magazine?

Major in journalism, insignificant in fashion marketing. This is a very competitive field. Try to go to college in New York City and try to meet as many magazine writers and editors as you can, whether or not they are caught up in fashion. Getting a job in this field is mostly a matter of “whom you know”, not “what you know.”
yup, i agree with ownpool. its the summer, so try looking for an internship in journalism of any kind. local newspaper is excellent too, just to open your mind to the planet of editing. Try to get into a excellent university/college in NYC. I heard NYU’s journalism department is pretty fantastic. While your time in NYC, imprison for fashion magazines, as most of their headquarters are right there.
