Q&A: Worries about university courses..?
Question by A: Worries in this area university courses..?
I’m 15, so in 2yrs I’ll be going to university. But for our Leaving Cert (A-LEVELS/SATS corresponding) in Ireland, the options/electives we choose can establish the courses we can take in university but also what courses in what universities. I didn’t know so I ultimately chose music, chemistry and economics, as I felt it covered a wide array of opportunities. The only problem is, the only thing I have ever really loved is music and ideally I would like to be a recording artist. I obviously have to go to college as a backup plot, but I find for myself not having an interest in anything you can study.. I was taking into account a music degree, but it seems career opportunities are restricted. May possibly anyone please tell me what significance a music degree has and what I may possibly do with one?

Well, for starters a music degree underpins everything you might want to do musically. You might be surprised how many musicians who do modern music are classically trained. It expands your understanding of music and gives you the tools you need to pursue your like of music.
If you truly have what it takes to be a professional musician, then it should deepen your passion while giving you the discipline you need as well.
As to what you can do with it, you can go towards a career in music as a professional musician and/or you can teach. Music is a hard career to make it in, so find out if you have the
native talent within, and the desire and discipline to do the work necessary to make the talent worthwhile. If you only like music for itself and not for what you can give others through it,
you might want to rethink.
Responsibility two degrees isn’t terrible either. Study economics with it over chemistry. Then you can always get into the administrative side of music, producing, whatever, if you needed to.
Degrees can work collectively.
Talk with a college professor of music and others caught up in the business. Try to get an overall comprehension of what it takes. Excellent luck.
