Question by yoy: How vital is foreign language for college?
I go to a college prep teach and have already completed two years of spanish. That is the reacquired amount of credits i need to graduate. As i was talking to my counselor today he told me that it would be excellent if i took 3 years of spanish as it was recommended for UC schools. I was wondering how vital 3 years of spanish would be.

Just as schools have requirements for math, English, science, and social studies classes, they also have requirements for foreign languages. Most excellent colleges expect 3 or 4 full years of the same foreign language.

What do you reckon? Answer below!

Spanish is useful. It is better to take a foreign language in any instance because it looks excellent on a transcript for college. Plus most colleges require 6 hours in a foreign language as a part of its General Education requirements, so getting a head start in high teach is a plus

It really depends on how vital it is to you, and what teach you want to go to. I for myself took one spanish/french class in middle teach, none at my vocational HS, and none at my community college, and am required to take a 1 foriegn language class as an discretionary here at my 4yr university I transferred to. Your HS completion would count as credit for this class I need to take, and some Universities require you have it completed to get in or be accepted..I reckon you’re fine.

But I would encourage you not to keep taking Spanish courses and become fluent in it. You already know the basics and it can take you a far way in life and make you a better choice over other people for many jobs since you will be bi-lingual. I for myself wish I had taken it in HS and got started earlier, I am now using Rosetta Marble and am going to Brazil for a study abroad to learn Portuguese, and I will keep at it and who knows maybe I will end up living there or working there one day

If you are in the US, it’s required. So, I’d say…pretty vital.

You need the corresponding of three years (HS) or three semesters (Uni) in order to graduate from most universities. If you take time off, you’ll probably forget everything, and have to take a review course…kinda a waste of time, if you question me.
