Question by Some girl: Can my coach demand this?
I just quit my division II team, NCAA of course, and my coach is demanding that I give sell back all the clothing/gear that I bought that contains our teach’s logo.
The items I bought were from a company called “Sew Sporty” that is not affiliated with my teach. Additionally, I have raced for that team - so technically, according to NCAA D2 rules, I was part of the team for this season.
Can my coach make me give her my gear? She claims it is NCAA policy, but I found nothing in this area it on their website.

You bought it, you own it, unless you signed an agreement not to own or show such.
if you paid for it out of your pocket, then it’s yours.
you bought it - it’s yours. Question her to show you the policy - bet there isn’t one!
I agree with the first post. But, I would not wear the uniform. That MAY be an NCAA violation.
Tell her where to shove it. You bought and paid for the stuff, it’s yours.
If you paid for it, it’s yours - if the teach provided it, it’s theirs.
But, the NCAA may have specific rules in this area use of authoritative team logos - there might be a specific patch or badge that you need to remove from the clothing if it denotes you as a “team member” instead of a “team supporter.”
Question your coach to show your the NCAA rule before you agree to sell back or remove anything.
This is from the NCAA Divistion II manual:
16.11.1.5 Retention of Athletics Apparel and Equipment.
A student-athlete may retain athletics apparel items (not equipment) at the end of the party’s collegiate participation. Used equipment may be bought by the student-athlete on the same cost basis as by any other party interested in purchasing such equipment.
According to this you may keep the apparel but if you paid less than retail for the gear then in order to keep it you must pay the difference.
You bought it, its yours. Tell him to kiss off unless he is interested in purchasing the items back from you. Then tack on an additional 50% handling fee for you.
If you bought the items with YOUR money, they are yours.
If the division or team bought the items, they belong to THEM and you must return them..
Simple enough.
