Question by wodasha: What do you have to take before going to a notebook science class ?
I know a small bit of Algebra and I’m in this area to go to community college. I’m asking this because I just watched a notebook science course video from Harvard and I had to quit watching it because they had confusing stuff like binary numbers etc… I’m already watching the math tutor dvds and their excellent. But what are some college courses I can watch online to get ready for notebook science ?

I can advise you Startrek or other science fiction movies. Most notebook scientists like this kind of science fiction.

For math you need discrete math , but it is sparely used. You have to know how to calculate, and be able to make formulas that express the complexity of an algorithm.

Some boolean algebra is helpfull as well.

And binary numbers although you would seldom use it.

What do you reckon? Answer below!

Honestly, it really depends on where you go to teach and classes you take. For instance, if you are going to a community college, you probably are not going to know an advanced Harvard video. Not saying your dumb, but mainly if your going to Harvard you already have a strong background. I go to a local community college for software development. You will meet with an adviser, talk in this area what you want to do, select a degree path, and start. Your first classes will be some general math and english, and you will also have like an intro to computers hardware/software. They are going to start as if you have no thought what a notebook is. As you progress, classes will progress.

Next semester you’ll probably start an intro to java, or visual vital as they are simple languages. The instructors will show you step by step how to code, and so will the book you buy. Don’t worry it’s rather simple to program, all languages have akin code just uncommon syntax.

If you have had some math and have a excellent general knowledge of computers and have had decent grades and study well you will do OK.

Base numbers other than 10 is simple once you get the thought. Learn Base 2 here:
