Question by Étienne C.: Football Recruiting (Outside the US)?
Alright, this is probably the question i’ve questioned for myself for so long but I’ve never seen or heard anything in this area it. I live in Montreal, Quebec (Canada). Our teach program is built differently from the US. We have 1 less year (Elementary, Middle and High Teach) combined but with high teach we have CEGEP, which lasts 3 to 6 years (depending on your studies) . And because of that we enter University at 21 instead of 18 in the US. So is it really possible to be recruited to play football in the NCAA? Because their rules on foreign admissions based on athletics states that people in Canada need to have completed CEGEP in 2 years (which is absolutely impossible) to be eligible. It’s a obtuse rule because in Canada, over the last 5 years, Football has become the second largest played sport all over the country (second to Hockey of course). And we have some very talented players who may possibly stand up to any Div. I recruits.

And i know you can go to Prep Teach in the US to get in, but aside from that, is there any solution or are we all doomed?
You can’t because of your age, you’re not even eligible to be on the roster

Walk on a football team. If you’re that excellent, you’ll make the team.

EDIT: Then maybe it varies, but I do know that there are schools that allow walk ons. Also, that age is not right because there was a guy a couple years back who was around 30 playing college football. What determines whether you can be on the team is the 4 year time limit specified by the NCAA.

Seriously, if an ancient lady can (albeit it’s a sub-professional team) http://www.local6.com/news/2161140/detail.html
Why wouldn’t they let you try out?

I didn’t see anything in this area age. In fact:

This says that you every year you participate for 12 months past your 21st birthday counts as 1 year of varsity experience.

  1. NCAAF Fan says:

Dude I am from Ontario, I had two players from my teach get scholarships in the states for football.

One finished up turning it down and chose to stay in Canada.

Keep in mind our teach went 3 years undefeated (including playoffs and bowls) before the scouts showed up.

Long tale small you can get in, no age upper age limit on players, a guy on Ball State is in his 30′s. You may need to walk on but you can get in.
