Community College Hospitality Programs

by US Army Africa
Recognizing the popularity of hospitality programs among younger college students, many community colleges are building new conveniences and introducing associate’s degree hospitality programs. Most schools offer business as an option for students interested in hotel and restaurant management, but new hospitality-specific programs are designed to provide students with a more thorough training and a competitive edge in the job market, without having to complete a four-year degree. Here are just a few of the many community colleges across the country with programs specifically designed for the future hotelier or restaurant manager.
Kirkwood Community College (Iowa)
Although it offers several uncommon hospitality concentrations, Kirkwood is recognized for its hotel management program. The teach owns a hotel featuring 71 guest rooms, in addition to a gourmet restaurant. Students receive training at the hotel conveniences which include culinary and bakery labs, classrooms, notebook labs, and an auditorium.
Scott Community College (Iowa)
The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Center at Scott is a .3 million facility with a full kitchen and dining room. Students in the hospitality programs also have access to a hotel guest room, front desk and laundry facility so that they can learn, hands-on, how a hotel operates.
Cuyahoga Community College (Ohio)

The college offers programs in food service management, hotel and tourism management, and culinary arts. The training center also partners with local establishments to provide students with work experience and also to offer continuing education courses to working professionals in the industry.
