Question by Brittany C: Can you attend a 2-4yr college at 18 yrsold with a ged anywhere?
I was supposed to have graduated this year 07, But I had family issues that I had to take care of first.
B/c of this,I had to make up the second semester of 9th grade which was ok.
Only with Finally catching up I was informed that you can only attend a 4 year college if you have attained a college prep diploma 22 credits.
I had been taking tech courses since the 2nd semester of 9th grade.
With a gpa of at least a 2.0 which is easliy attainable, but I was hoping there is an simpler way b/c at this rate if I try to make up all the credits I missed I’ll be graduating spring 2009 at age 20:(
Please somebody help me….
I’m even willing to go to a 2year college first and transfer to a 4 year!
Or is there a way to get into college with a non college prep diploma?

Uncommon colleges have uncommon requirements. Pick a couple colleges you’re interested in attending and talk to their admissions personnel. They’re really the best folks to answer your question.

If you do have your GED and 16-20 or more credits, pretty much any house will take you.

I was homeschooled, so when I applied for a 4 yr. university, I gave them my high teach transcript with the total of credits on it and my ACT scores. I got in just fine.

And if your family issues affected your grades, all you have to do is say so. They’re very understanding. Excellent luck!

It is to terrible your guidance counsellor didn’t inform you or stress the need to take College PREP courses in order to get into college. I wouldn’t try and make up all the credits you missed and graduate later. Just end and go on.

You won’t be able to get into a 4 year university without the college prep classes. Just go to a excellent community college for two years and you should be able to transfer with that.

Tech classes just don’t prepare you for the college environment. Whatever…graduate and go on.
