Some time back I watched my daughter, a release ( divorced) mother of 5 small children struggling to provide for her children. Having only a high teach diploma, she worked a low wage job and struggled each payday on who would get paid how much, because she may possibly not afford to pay all the bills. Though she kept most of the bills paid, just barely, she may possibly not afford any extras. When the children questioned to rent a movie she typically had to say no. Renting movies and even just driving to the nearby park were luxuries that she may possibly not afford. Then when the economy took a plunge in late 2008 she lost her job. With 6 months of unemployment she took the first job anyone had offered in some time. She became a floor worker at a local Bingo hall paying $ 35.00 a night plus tips. Certainly not much to pay $ 700 in rent, a $ 200 set alight bill, not counting water and trash bill, buzz bill, and household food and private cleanliness needs of the family. It was a given with 5 children she may possibly not take 4 or 5 years for a college degree. Her ability to earn more money would have to be a vocational training on the ” quick track”. With several months of depression she exposed ” entry level” jobs that were in high demand, and most only required 2-3 months to complete the training! Better yet her local one stop career personnel even had scholarships and/or vocational training grants so the training cost to her would be nothing!

In order to get the training grant she had to select training for a job that was in high demand for the area. It so happened there were alot to select from.

To complete a training program in 3 months…she may possibly select to be a Phlebotomist, an indemnity agent, an indemnity customer service expressive and many others. To complete more extensive training through the grant program she may possibly select dental hygeinist, xray tech, pharmacy tech, occupational therapy tech or numerous others. These more extensive training programs were a year to 18 months in length.

She chose to take the 3 month Phlebotomy training first as a means to commence earning $ 13.00 an hour at the local hospital. Then with working several months and getting more financially stable she may possibly continue on as an Xray tech or Urgent situation Health check Technician/Paramedic ( a further course offered- 18 month training).

Any one can do this also… Phlebotomy training is on the average 3 months long. Half of this time is spent in the classroom and the other is spent really work at the hospital in the blood lab drawing blood specimens as ordered by the doctor. With completing the classroom and the work in the blood lab ( typically 3 months), you graduate. Typically you can realize a job at the very hospital you did your training at because they now know you from your 1 month or so of working while a student.

THis is just one example of quick track method of better pay and a better life for your family.

The typical phlebotomy training class id $ 500- 0.00 total and only 3 months long! With that you are making a better paycheck and most hospitals where you’d be working offer full health check/dental benefit packages!

So, ok, you might have to stay working the minimum wage job while training as a phlebotomist for that 3 month training duration. But three months is a small duration when there is a set alight ( like this) at the end of that tunnel

Also, class is not every day in Phlebotomy class, typically it is only 3 days a week for one half of the day!

CHeck out your local one stop career center for small high demand vocational training. Also call your area hospitals to question if they offer Phlebotomy training classes. Call the blood lab to try out for this training.

You’ll be glad you did when you too can quick track your way to a better paycheck!
