Should talented athletes receive special treatment for University course marks?
Question by b r: Should talented athletes receive special treatment for University course marks?
Our University policy is that all “talented atheletes” recieve automatically, at least a C grade for required courses.
I have one such person who came to one class, didn’t buy a text, and didn’t write any exams.
Now he demands his C
I refuse. I gave him a F
It can affect my contract renewal.
I am sticking to my guns on this one.
No merit for work= fail.
What do you think?

I am sad that you will lose your job and the teacher that takes your place will kowtow to this policy, but what will this “talented athlete” learn?
Perhaps a judicious call to the NCAA on this?
