Should I take an Associates degree or be miserable and finish with a Bachelors?
Question by : Should I take an Associates degree or be miserable and finish with a Bachelors?
I’m entering my senior year in college. I’m majoring in Information Technology, and I’d be lying if I said I was remotely interested in taking more classes. I’m honestly burnt out; taking these courses made me hate something I once considered a hobby. I’m to the point where I can basically take a an Associate’s Degree and be finished. I have a year left to finish and get a Bachelors.
I heard from a lot of people that in IT, they look more for certifications and experience moreso than they do education. Can anyone verify this?
I know that taking an associates will lessen my opportunities to manage, but is it worth being miserable and being about 15k more in debt?

I would finish.
I def. understand your position and it sucks. But if you quit now, you’ve basically just wasted your entire 3rd year that you already paid for and worked for, since an Associates is usually completed in 2 years. I would feel like I wasted money I opted for an Associates that close to the finish line. Plus, the job market is getting harder and harder. The more you can do to help give yourself an edge the better.
We have a friend who has a lot of computer experience and IT cert, and he’s had a really time finding work. I would go for the Bachelors.
