Q&A: Why does everyone tell me to go to college even though i want to become a pro wrestler?
Question by : Why does everyone tell me to go to college even though i want to become a pro wrestler?
I’m in the 11th grade.People tell me to go to college. Then they tell me i need a 2nd choice if it doesn’t work out.Two of my favorite wrestlers Mike Quackenbush and Larry Sweeney told me the same thing. But i’m going to make this work no matter what. While i’m in college i could be training and doing something i actually like.

Because pay early on is like less than minimum wage and you won’t make anything until year 5 if you last that long.
small penus
Boy,you can be doing both, training and learning something else.Get a degree in broadcasting and maybe you can get two jobs in WWE.Or get a degree in writing and be part of the creative team.Either, don’t just walk into WWE with one option.Because before you know it,you got future endeavored.
Because although you may be very good it might nit work out.
They say that because they don’t think you can make it, no offense because all the pros say that to all the young guys. I think you have a better shot at making it if you start at 18 rather than 24.
so would not be a wrestler who would be cheated on signing a bad agreements.if you got crippled or something bad till you cannot wrestle, you can get another job by using your college. The best thing is you can be a good role model to kids out there. You will get more fans and inspired by a lot.Schools will call you to motivate their child. Some institutions will call you to come too.
To have something to fall back on.
What happens if you suddenly have a career ending injury and can’t do pro wrestling anymore?
If you don’t get a degree, the only other “job” that you’ll have is being a bum, lol.
When you start out in pro wrestling you will need another job to sustain you as you will not be earning enough to survive. Sheamus for example had to work many jobs including being a bouncer while in the independents. He did this for several years until he eventually got spotted and went to FCW and the rest is history.
Also very few pro wrestlers get to a place where they’re making a living out of it. It’s a very hard industry to get into and you’ll need a lot of money, several thousand dollars to pay for your training.
