Dual Credit courses or High School Courses for Senior Year?
Question by Black Butter: Dual Credit courses or High Teach Courses for Senior Year?
Next year i will be a senior and i have the opportunity to take some dual-credit or college courses at the local tech college that can transfer over to universities. One of my concerns is my math class. I may possibly take Math 101 which is college algebra or take precal cp/honors at the high teach. Right now I am in Prob and Stat and ive taken algebra 1-2 and geometry. Ive been told that precal can help me but taking math 101 would be a really excellent thought. Im stuck between taking AP Statistics or Precal CP or Math 101 at the technical college.
Any thoughts?
Also I wont have a full class schedule next year. We have to take a math and english every year and I only need a lab science and econ/gov, also im taking spanish so that puts my at 5 total classes out of 7.

I took 2 College English classes my Senior year of High Teach and I’m really glad I did. You’ll find that when you’re in college, you’re super busy and you’ll be glad you got those classes out of the way. I would suggest taking the college classes while you’re in high teach and have the time. But make sure you work hard in them and don’t let “Senioritis” affect you too much. I doubt you’ll regret taking Math 101. Maybe you may possibly take Precal over the summer with the tech college?

The Math 101 is a requirement in college, but if you want to pursue higher math in college, then you should get a background or foundation in Pre Cal also. Based on that, I would recommend sticking with the classes that will build on your foundation of math skills unless you are already confident that you can handle the college level without it, and therefore taking Math 101 would be fine. Hooe that helps.
