Question by ONElOVElUST: Any information on Medical office administration? medical office assistant?
Ok…im getting ready to start school i have a book from my local community college and one of the programs is medical office administrator..what kind of jobs will i be able to get? what is the difference in an assistant? is it the same courses??? will these jobs be in demand the way the economy is going? should i consider accounting technology or office administration?? and these are all associates degrees in applied science…is that good???? please give me all the info you can!!

Well those jobs require A&P, Biology’s (maybe) math (maybe), computer and adequate typing skills, medical terminology 1,2,&3, ICD-9, ICD-9H, CPT, HCPCS. You can look those up and read more on them or flip through the college catalog under the program there should be a curriculum. Have you considered getting into Radiology, Nursing, Obstetrics/gynecology(sonography). Don’t look into one job within the huge healthcare field.

An Associates is good to start but so is a Bachelors. Go for your Bachelors in healthcare of your choice(so many choices) then you can go back and get your higher degree. Think higher it’ll pay off in the end and during. Read into the actual position and tasks of that particular job and see if it sounds like something you are interested in and can handle. Good Luck
